East-West University Launches Scientific Grants Competition 2025-2026

East-West University is announcing an internal annual grant competition aimed at fully activating the university’s scientific research potential. The initiative seeks to create new knowledge and facilitate the integration of researchers into current, impactful scientific projects.

A total of 144,000 GEL has been allocated from the university budget for this competition.

Funding and Timeline

The budget and duration for each submitted project are defined as follows:

  • Total University Funding per Project: Must not exceed 36,000 GEL, including taxes provided by Georgian legislation.
  • Project Duration: Must not exceed 12 months.
  • Application Period: From February 16, 2026, to March 16, 2026.
  • Administration: The process is ensured by the Grant Competition Commission established by the University President.

 Research Priorities

Project themes must align with the university’s research priorities, identified through analysis of the potential of the university and its partner organizations. The priority areas are:

  • Medicine & Healthcare: Clinical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, Balneology-Spa Medicine, Healthcare Management.
  • Management & Business: Global Management, International Business Management.
  • Technology: Artificial Intelligence Applications, Cybersecurity.

 Participation Conditions

The right to participate and obtain a grant is primarily granted to East-West University’s academic/invited and university clinic personnel.

Key Requirements:

  1. Group Submission: The project must be presented by a group; an individual may not participate in more than one project.
  2. Project Leader: Must be an affiliated academic staff member of East-West Teaching University with a doctorate (or equivalent) degree.
  3. Personnel: The team includes core personnel (holding a PhD or Master’s) and may include support personnel for technical issues.
  4. International Cooperation: It is desirable to include foreign citizens as consultants who work on the project’s research theme.
  5. Exclusivity: The project must not have been submitted to any other grant competition.

Eligible subjects must submit the following documents to ngamsakhurdia@eastwest.edu.ge:

  1. Grant Project Application (signed and electronic).
  2. Project Proposal (PDF format).
  3. Justified Budget and Implementation Schedule.
  4. Research Ethics Compliance document.
  5. Professional Resumes (CVs) of the leader and researchers.
  6. Consent letter from the foreign consultant (if applicable).

 Evaluation Criteria

Registered projects will be evaluated by an independent group of local experts on a 20-point scale. Evaluation is based on two main categories:

  • Scientific/Practical Value (10 points): Focuses on relevance, novelty, methodology, and expected results.
  • Implementation Process (10 points): Focuses on personnel qualification, budget relevance, and ethics/risk management.

Post-Award Obligations

Grant recipients are required to:

  • Publish at least two scientific articles in peer-reviewed publications based on the research.
  • Acknowledge the support of East-West University in all publications and visual products.

Note that property purchased with grant funds remains the ownership of the university.
