East-West University Medical School Hosts Clinical Education Workshop – Designer Level
East-West University Medical School conducted a Clinical Education Workshop – Designer Level designed for selected faculty members and academic leaders in Health Sciences. The workshop aimed to support participants in developing the skills required to design clinical education learning sessions using simulation modalities. The general objective of the workshop was to prepare Health Sciences faculty and academic leaders to create learning experiences aligned with simulation-based educational approaches. A total of 30 clinical education faculty members participated in the program.
Participants worked toward several learning outcomes, including designing learning outcomes for clinical education sessions aligned with simulation approaches, developing clinical education sessions using multiple simulation modalities appropriate to learning objectives and learner level, and leveraging agentic AI as a collaborative design partner to plan and refine learning sessions according to educational best practices.
The workshop structure included both virtual and in-person components. Prior to the in-person sessions, participants attended a two-hour virtual introductory lecture covering instructional design concepts applied to clinical simulation practices. The in-person workshop took place over two days, February 23 and 24, 2026, and included immersive hands-on activities focused on task training, peer-to-peer practice, and simulation scenario design.
Day 1 opened with a welcome session followed by sessions on designing learning outcomes for simulation practices and developing isolated task training and peer-to-peer practices. The day concluded with feedback sessions focused on reviewing practices and improving quality.
Day 2 included a Q&A session, simulation scenario design activities, additional feedback sessions, and forward planning discussions. The workshop concluded with participant feedback, a group photo, and certificate granting.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Manoela Malta, Vice President of Health Sciences at Cintana Education
